| reservations | city guide | city map |
| Bargains abound in the souks, where you can find just about anything you could imagine! A lingering perfume of saffron, cumin, ginger and orange flowers is permanantly present in the Marrakech souks... Overflowing sacks of chick peas, almonds, and ground nuts are arranged amongst baskets of dates, casks of olives, pots of henna .... | ![]() |

Many artisanal workshops remain where tourists can witness the age old crafting of sculptors, weavers, carpenters, dyers, blacksmiths, and metalworkers who still use traditional styles and methods of creating their goods.
You may be overwhelmed by the bargaining, but sit back and enjoy it, this is part of the Moroccan culture and is expected by all shop owners. Prices are always cheaper when you adventure alone and not with a guide as their commission will automatically be added into the price.
Souk ChouariSpecializing in weavings and basket works as well as wood sculpting.
Souk des BijoutiersLarge selection of jewelry and gold.
Souk el AttarinePerfumes and oils.
Souk des ForgeronsCopperware
Souk HaddadineIronworks of all shapes, sizes and functions!
Souk CherratineThis bazaar specializes in leather goods, though their style is not as traditional as it once was as they produce according to tourists tastes.
Souk Rahba QdimaAlso known as La Criée Berbére (roughly translated this means the Auction Crier) because of its proximity to the ancient slave market. This souk's specialty is sheepskins, tapestries, carpets and rugs.
Souk SmataBabouches are the pointed slippers you see on many Moroccans, and here you will find the largest collection you could ever imagine.
Souk as-SmarrineThis souk has a large selection of fabrics, though you can also find a number of souvenirs.
Souk LarzalWholesalers wool market.
Souk des TeinturiersTanneries in Marrakech have remained unchanged for hundreds of years. Craftsmen are still using saffron to obtain rich yellows, poppies for deep reds, antimony for black and indigo for brilliant blue coloring and stretch the skins to dry in the sun, near to the vats… this is one visit to the past that tourists should not miss.
