The Riad Abbassia is a luxurious, traditional Moroccan home located in the Marrakech medina. The original foundation was built in the middle of the 19th century and the residence was completely restored in 2001 with the precious help and "know how" of local artisans.
Comprised of four well-appointed suites and two double rooms that are distributed on two levels, the riad is situated around a private patio with fountains and fruit trees. A spacious lounge with a fireplace, salon area with digital television and a video library are at the clients disposal along with the covered swimming basin/jacuzzi.
Panoramic views of the historical city center and the High Atlas mountains are enjoyed from rooftop, as well as from the large terrace-solarium equipped with showers under an alcove. Discreet and qualified staff attend to clients needs.

| In general, all of the Ryads need more and better signs and directional indications on the streets. The Medina of Marrakesh needs to post street signs and produce better maps. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and felt like we were staying with old friends rather than in a hotel. Highly recommend, excellent meals, very cordial, hospitable, beautiful building and rooms. The Moroccans we met were all very kind, cordial and open. | ||

| It is a beautiful Riad. Rooms are nice though. Clean. Cute. Beautiful patio, lounge and terrace. The local staff is very nice. But, It is not easy to find at all when you are not told up-front that you need to follow the blue arrow. At night after 8pm) it is even more problematic, because there is no light in the street and you have to use your mobile phone in order to find where to plug the key. The no-lock policy is a bit annoying. Besides the fact that you have no insurance about the safety of the stuff you leave in the room when you are outside , someone from the riad entered my room by mistake while showing the place to guests. Might not have been that much a problem day time, by at 11pm, it scared me. The Riad is a bit far away from the souks/center. But if you like to go a walk, it is perfect (again, day time) | ||

| Can't praise staff at Abbassia highly enough - they made us feel very welcome from start to finish. A very special thanks to Ali who was always there for anything we needed. Riad itself is spectacularly beautiful - even better since we were fortunate to have it to ourselves for most of the week. Highly recommend the Marrakech "experience" and could not have chosen a better place to stay!! Best regards Bill | ||

| The Riad was beautiful and as we were the only ones there we got upgraded! It was tricky to find and it was a little disconcerting having all these young boys following us around telling us where to go, but we couldn't have found it without them. Mohammed was fantastic. A great manager, giving us lots of information and help. He drew maps for us on how to get around the Medina, and I have kept them as souvenirs. Essouria is a great place to go for a day trip to the sea side. Much slower pace and a breather from crazy Marrakech. Mohammed can organise a one way ticket to get there. We also had a meal one evening at the Riad and it was lovely. Chicken in lemon, scrumptious! Eating breakfast on the roof terrace every morning was a 'stand out' and really set us up for the day. This place is a great find, and I would definitely return to it again. | ||

| Mustafa was a fantastic host and made me feel very welcome. The location is very difficult to find for the first time without being guided. As a single female traveller this was very daunting on arrival as there were only some young boys to show me the way. Try to arrange to meet Mustafa at the medina gate when you arrive in Marrakesh. I stayed in the Ivory suite and it was beautiful - exactly the Moroccan riad experience I was hoping for. Although the website states the Riad is only 20 minutes from the main square, Djemaa el-fna, it would be impossible to navigate it yourself through the medina. I walked around the outside of the walls of the medina on my own and got to the square in around 40 minutes. All in all a beautiful riad, but location not great, especially for lone travellers. | ||

| The riad was nice, would have been good if they had contacted us beforehand to ask if we needed directions, airport transfer, etc. The air conditioning did not work in one of the rooms properly and then another did not have any. Generally it was very good. Would have been nice if the roof terrace had had the sunloungers set up for us, etc. But all in all it was a solid 7/10 | ||

| Riad Abbassia was truly the best riad we stayed in during the course of our stay in morocco. All four of us in our group would highly recommend staying there to friends and family. The service was brilliant, I have never stayed in such a friendly and welcoming place on holiday before. Mustafa is the best host, giving invaluable knowledge and information in order to help to get round marrakech without looking too much like a typical tourist. The riad was very clean and beautiful. It's great for the money, we stayed in a expensive riad in cascades d'ouzoud which was not nearly as nice as Riad Abbassia. We liked it so much we stayed at the end of our trip again. Also the breakfast and roof terrace is lovely. | ||

| I didnt like the location, it was quite frightening walking back to the Riad with men and young boys following you. The riad itself was nice. | ||

| I enjoyed my stay and found the staff friendly and extremely helpful but I did think the Ryad was overpriced for facilities to hand. Any further help I can be, please let me know. Miss N Stewart | ||
